TEST FOR RADON. radon test kit on a basement table and vintage Pennsylvania house

Your Daily Install takes something happening now, looks at what happened before, and gives you one thing to do at home.

Print the worksheet and add it to your Household Resilience Network binder.

What’s happening now?

As more households close windows for colder weather, there’s one indoor air question you can answer with a test. Radon is a gas that can enter a home from the ground. You can’t see or smell it.

A home next door can have a different reading from yours. The result from your own home is what helps you decide what to do next.

Has this happened before?

In 1984, a worker at a Pennsylvania nuclear power plant set off a radiation monitor on his way in. The plant hadn’t begun operating. Investigators traced the exposure to radon at his house.

What happened next?

The case helped bring attention to a risk that can be easy to miss in a home that looks fine. The useful part for us is simple. A test can give you information that your eyes and nose can’t.

Do you check where the bathroom is first?

Before the drive, you go once more. At the visit, you quietly look for the bathroom. What is the seven-second idea at the start of this bladder-support video—and how does it connect to FemiCore?

What can I do?

Look up your state radon program and find its home test options. Pick the lowest level you use regularly and follow the kit’s placement and timing instructions. Put the finish date on your calendar. If a result is high, follow EPA and state guidance on follow-up testing and fixes.
